The Puritans are one step away from an immediate return to the premier division if they can get past Taunton Town in today’s Division One South & West play-off final at Spencer Stadium (3pm).

Ford said: “We were as nervous as the supporters on Tuesday and it affects us all. Tuesday was the first time in a long time that supporters at this club have seen their team win as many games at home as they have this season.

“So my message to them is not to worry, we’re well prepared for the game, whatever happens we will put on a good performance. Enjoy the experience, that’s what I’ve told the players to do, and cheer us on like they have done all season.

“We’re all nervous, I am on the touchline, but we’ll be better for the experience of Tuesday’s game.

“It’s a big game of football, especially as the club has not been in the position for a very long time. The same goes for my players, they have not had to deal with this before but they trust me and if it doesn’t work out that will be down to me.”
