The BetVictor Southern League has been cancelled following the coronavirus outbreak and Ford feels it is the right decision which ends any uncertainty for clubs, managers and players.

Ford said: "I had previously stated the onus was on the Southern League to get the season completed but the enormity of the situation we all find ourselves in now has changed that. The FA has taken the right decision, we now have clarity that we're not going to resume.

"That means we know where we're going, we can put the stress of not knowing if it is going to restart or not behind us. We can start to plan for next season, which will hopefully start in August, if not shortly afterwards.

"It would have been difficult to fit all the games in if it did restart and I think it helps every club at our level of football. There will be clubs, a minority of them, who will be impacted and not be happy because they want the season to finish, but they saying that for their own reasons. It's disappointing for a few clubs but for most it is the right decision."
