Banbury United manager Paul Davis is expecting a backlash from Redditch United in today’s Evo-Stik Southern League clash.

While the Puritans won 3-0 at Burnham in Saturday’s premier division contest, play-off chasing Redditch slipped to a surprise 4-0 defeat against Truro City. Both teams need the points for contrasting reasons but Davis says the pressure will be on Redditch to bounce back to form.

If Redditch don’t beat us today then their push for the play-offs is probably over so the pressure is on them to get all three points.

He said: “If Redditch don’t beat us today then their push for the play-offs is probably over, so the pressure is on them to get all three points. Truro winning 4-0 there on Saturday was a bit of freak result, it will still be a difficult place for us to go and get something.

“We’ve reached April and we’re still not completely out of it but catching Biggleswade or Frome is going to be difficult. We’ve just got to try and get above Arlesey to start with.”

Looking back on Saturday’s success, Davis added: “Burnham were really poor but we played well and there were some very good individual performances.”

Davis will name an unchanged squad for the trip to Redditch with Hicham Abdellah still ruled out for at least another week through injury.
