Manager Phil Lines will be looking for Easington Sports to end their home games with three more UHLSport Hellenic League points.

Sports go into Saturday’s Division One West clash with lowly Tytherington Rocks on the back of a 2-1 victory over Letcombe.

Sports are up to fourth and end their season with a trip to New College Swindon on Monday.

Not taking their early chances has cost Sports in several games this season and they missed a couple of opportunities on Saturday which could have proved costly. Durrell Livious glanced a header wide from the returning Craig Pearman’s cross and Sam Grant hooked a shot wide.

But Sports broke the deadlock when Letcombe failed to clear and Tom Smith headed the ball on for Andrew Stidder who turned and finished well from six yards.

Sports continued to create chances, Stidder’s volley was tipped over the bar by Dan Joyce and from Lewis Travers’ ensuing corner Mike Spaull headed wide.

Grant headed over from Spaull’s cross, Stidder fired wide from 25 yards and Aron Dosanjh was also off target with a header from Travers’ cross. But Jack Goode did well to foil George Francis from a rare Letcombe attack just before the break.

Sports doubled their advantage shortly after the restart when Dosanjh scored with a neat finish from Grant’s cross.

But Letcombe reduced the arrears when Aaron Goodchild set up Jordan Davies who cut inside and beat Goode with a good finish.

Sports dealt comfortably with Letcombe’s efforts to get back on level terms while Grant’s header was deflected over and Spaull fired over from the edge of the box. Grant went close when his 25 yard free-kick thumped the upright and bounced to safety.
