Banbury United boss Mike Ford has challenged Amer Awadh to maintain the standard he set against Weymouth in Tuesday’s Emirates FA Cup replay.
The slightly built but skilful attacker tormented Weymouth’s defence and linked up well with Greg Kaziboni before breaking the deadlock.
Amer Awadh has set himself a benchmark but he has to maintain that standard nowPuritans boss Mike Ford
Awadh has yet to feature in the Evo-Stik League South so far but got his chance in the replay and took it.
Ford said: “Amer Awadh has set himself a benchmark but he has to maintain that standard now. Everything he did against Weymouth was what I would want from him but now he’s got to replicate that each week.”
Ford made three changes from the original tie and added: “I felt I needed to make changes for the replay. Giorgio [Rasulo] had played two games in quick succession following a long time without playing any football so he needed to come out of it.
“Rava Shamsi worked tirelessly for us on Saturday but had a hamstring strain before that. So I felt it would be better for those two to make an impact from the bench if needed and they did.
“But it always looks easy when it works out for any manager!”
