Banbury United boss Mike Ford knows his side must tighten things up at the back.

The Puritans lost 3-0 at Kings Lynn Town in Saturday’s Evo-Stik League South clash.

If you conceded goals in the way we did on Saturday then every game is going to be difficult

Michael Gash gave the Linnets an early lead and they dominated the first half. United improved after the restart but two quick goals ended their hopes.

Gash doubled his side’s lead from the penalty spot and Harry Limb added a third goal before Giorgio Rasulo pulled one back.

Ford told Puritans Radio: “If you conceded goals in the way we did on Saturday then every game is going to be difficult. It was a struggle for us in the first half, their shape caused us a few issues and we looked like conceding every time they attacked us.

“We changed it at halftime and for the opening period of the second half we were by far the better team. They struggled to cope with our change of system and we engaged their full-backs further up the pitch with our wing-backs.

“We had chances and Ravi Shamsi went close to an equaliser. But we switched off again from a ball in behind, we made a bad decision for the penalty and suddenly we’re 2-0 down just when it looked as though we could get back in it.

“The game then became very difficult, we huffed and puffed after the third goal and got one back, maybe could have got another one but the game became fragmented.”
