The Puritans romped to a 5-0 victory in Saturday’s Evo-Stik Southern League clash at the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium. First half goals from Jack Westbrook, Callum White and Ricky Johnson put United in charge with Conor McDonagh and substitute Darius Browne getting on the score sheet in the second half.

Ford said: “It’s a game we should have won and we’ve done it comprehensively.

“We said to players before the game we needed to get after them quickly. We scored after 30 seconds and then got a second goal shortly afterwards which gave us the chance to take control of the game.

“They could have got one back but Andy Gunn has made a good block and when we got the third goal it was game over.

“When you’re 3-0 up at halftime the second half can sometimes peter out but it was great to score five goals and keep a clean sheet. We made the game comfortable although we were not so good on the ball at times.”
