Moyo at the double as Saints see off Harriers

Saints won a hard fought game 2-0 against in-form Kidderminster Harriers in difficult conditions on Tuesday to complete the double over the Worcestershire outfit.

St James Park was swept by wind and rain but both teams played some good football and had chances to score in a first half when Harriers posed the greater threat.

Jimmy Armson’ effort came closest for Saints but Harriers went even closer. A well worked free-kick set up Tyrell Waite’s shot that hit both posts before being cleared in a real let-off for Kevin Wilkin’s side as Harriers finished the half strongly.

On the hour mark, Steve Diggin rounded keeper Alex Palmer but delayed his shot and his effort was blocked. That was the nearest to a goal for either side in the second period and the game appeared to be heading for a stalemate.

But Moyo came off the bench to bag both goals in an exciting finish. Moyo finally broke the deadlock in the 83rd minute with a clinical finish which found the bottom corner of the net.

Two minutes later Moyo doubled Saints’ advantage to make the three points safe. Shane Byrne’s pass set the striker free and he made no mistake firing past Palmer.

The victory lifts Saints to within six points of the top five teams and they are handily placed if they can put a run of results together while Harriers stay in third place.
