Despite seeing his side slip to a second consecutive Evo-Stik Southern League defeat, Ford has complete faith in his young squad.

Dunstable Town completed the double over the Puritans in Tuesday’s premier division clash but Ford was much happier than he was following Saturday’s reverse at King’s Lynn Town.

He said: “I wasn’t happy on Saturday but the players worked really hard on Tuesday and that’s because they care, as I and the staff do.

“Now we need to challenge ourselves to go and win at Slough Town on Tuesday night. It’s on a 3G pitch which should suit us down to the ground.

“Because of the way we’ve played in a lot of our games, we’re a bit disappointed not to have more points. But the other three teams who also came up are languishing and we’re near the top end of the table.

“We just need to remain calm, we’ve won nine games and got 31 points already. If we can get around 35 points by the halfway point I will be satisfied.

“But we’ve got to maintain our levels and standards and, more importantly, stay grounded and remember where we’ve come from.”
