Ricky Johnson completed his second hat-trick of the campaign as Banbury United beat AFC Totton 3-0 in Saturday’s Evo-Stik Southern League clash.
United began the Division One South & West contest well and Leam Howards forced Steve Mowthorpe into a decent save with his feet. But United converted their early dominance into an eigth minute lead when a long ball down the centre put Johnson through and he beat Mowthorpe from 12 yards.
United made it 2-0 in the 18th minute, Duran Martin taking the ball forward from midfield before picking out Howards with a pass and he struck the ball past Mowthorpe from ten yards. Johnson went close when he headed a Zac McEachran free-kick against the bar.
Nathaniel Sherborne should have reduced the arrears shortly after the restart before United increased their lead in the 52nd minute when Howards crossed for the unmarked Johnson to head home.
Darius Browne hit the bar before Taylor Edwards shot weakly at Jack Harding from 15 yards. Louis Joyce twice went close before United made it 4-0 three minutes from time when a McEachran corner saw Johnson head home from the edge of the six yard box.
