Ricky Johnson struck twice as Ardley United beat Kidlington 4-0 in Tuesday’s Oxon Senior Cup third round tie.
In a repeat of last season’s final, the holders comfortably beat the UHLSport Hellenic League leaders.
Ardley opened the scoring in the tenth minute when Jon Gardner’s free-kick found Johnson who headed over keeper Mike Bawn. Johnson, Luke Ingram and Gavin Kidd all went close before Ardley doubled their lead in the 26th minute when Joe Eyre’s pin-point cross was headed home by Johnson.
Ardley increased their lead three minutes later when Gardner’s cross-cum-shot eluded everyone and found the far corner of the net. After the restart Luke Holden and Lewis Brownhill were denied by Harding before Ardley rounded it off in the 71st minute when Johnson headed on a free-kick for substitute Callum Convey to volley home.
