Just like Saturday’s game with Winchester City, the Puritans were holding on in the closing stages against Bridgwater Town after missing another glut of chances in Tuesday’s 2-1 Evo-Stik Southern League victory at Spencer Stadium.

And that’s something Ford will address in training tonight (Thursday).

He said: “We got across the line but I would imagine we will be doing some finishing practice in training on Thursday because we have missed so many chances in the last two games.

“The games should be so much easier for us and my central defenders are wondering how we aren’t scoring more goals.”

Barcelos has scored in his last three games but could have quite easily doubled his tally against Winchester but Ford says the responsibility of putting the ball in the back of the net is down to the whole group.

He said: “Felipe [Barcelos] s able to create chances because he is a good player, he gets in behind defences and uses his pace. But he’s not the only player who has been missing chances.

“My central defenders are not scoring enough goals and keeping enough clean sheets but there are lots of things we can work on and improve on.”
