The Puritans maintained second spot in Division One South & West with a 4-0 victory at Yate Town and must now wait to see how leaders Cinderford Town get on against Taunton Town on Tuesday.

And Mike Ford’s boys will finish off against Taunton at Spencer Stadium on Saturday.

Goals from returning captain Andy Gunn, Leam Howards, Zac Mceachran and substitute Charlie Wise earned all three points at Yate on Saturday.

Ford said: “I’m not convinced how well we played, we got the first goal at the right time and shuffled a few things around at halftime. But we dominated the second half from start to finish.

“Whether we were worthy 4-0 winners or not I’m not sure but they stopped us playing in the first half. We moved the ball quicker in the second half and got it forward earlier.
