Banbury United manager Mike Ford was happy enough with his side's display in Saturday's 5-0 victory at Evo-Stik Southern League basement boys Bashley.

The victory took United up to fourth in the Division One South & West table ahead of Tuesday’s trip to second-placed Taunton Town.

Ford said: “These games are never simple when you are expected to win and it’s easy to get frustrated. But it was a disciplined performance and I was able to change the team around a bit.

“Bashley never gave up, even with ten men, they showed a massive amount of spirit to keep going.

“The pitch was difficult but I told the players I didn’t want to use that as excuse to hit the ball long. We passed the ball much better in the second half because we missed a link-up player in the first half.

“We’ve got five goals but we could have had plenty more in the end. But it’s job done, we’ve increased out points’ tally and goals’ tally.”
