The Puritans drew 1-1 with Weymouth in Saturday’s Evo-Stik Southern League clash. Charlie Davis gave the visitors an early lead in the premier division clash from the penalty spot but George Nash equalised midway through the first half.

Ford said: “It was an even game, we didn’t start at all well, even though we had a good warm-up. It looked as though losing at Biggleswade had a bigger impact than I first thought.

“On the back of last week’s defeat, and our opponents’ stature, it was good to get a point, although the players are disappointed that we’ve not won the game. But it was important for us not to try and win it late on and get beat again.

“We gifted them an early penalty because we lost possession in our own half and then made another error. We had barely touched the ball than we were behind.

“But the players showed great resilience to get back in it and it was a great finish from George Nash. It was good for him to get a goal.

“In the second half Jack Harding hasn’t had a shot to save. We had chances to go in front but we made the wrong decisions at times.”
