The Puritans are without a game on Saturday as Chesham United are still involved in the Buildbase FA Trophy. That means an enforced break for Ford’s boys just as they are hitting form again.

Ford said: “Tuesday’s league cup tie takes on more significance because after that we’ve got a bit of break and I don’t want to go into it on the back of a defeat.

“We’ll go to North Leigh on Tuesday, press them again and try to get the right result.”

And that’s exactly what United did in Saturday’s 4-1 premier division victory at Cirencester Town, where Darius Browne bagged a brace.

Looking back on Saturday’s success, Ford added: “We built on what we did on Tuesday, scoring four more goals away from home.

“We’ve done really well against the top sides but perhaps not quite got the right results against teams further down the table. But we have done over the last two games.

“We looked such a threat going forward and we kept pressing, I like this system and I’ve got players who can play it. It was a high energy performance and that’s how I like my teams to play.”
