Banbury United manager Mike Ford reckons tonight's (Tuesday) Oxon Senior Cup tie at Oxford City will serve his side well irrespective of the outcome.

The holders travel to the Vanarama National League South outfit for the rearranged quarter-final tie with Ford looking for his side to give a good account of themselves. He will make several changes to the side which won 2-0 at Wimborne Town in Saturday’s Evo-Stik Southern League clash.

Ford said: “It was a disappointing season for the club last season but the players ended it on a high in the final. We are the holders and we have a duty to the club to try and win the cup again.

“But as long as we play well and to our maximum I will be happy. We need to keep the momentum going on the back of four straight wins.

“Oxford City are two levels above us, are going well and are technically very good. They will want to play their passing game and it may be that we have to change our style to cope with that.

“Unlike league games so far, we may have less of the ball, might have to sit deeper to defend and have to hit them on the counter-attack. But either way, it will be a good test for us because we may have to adopt those tactics in difficult away games like Taunton and Tiverton.”
