Banbury United manager Mike Ford felt his side had not fully deserved all three points against Didcot but was still happy to get them.
Ford has encouraged the Puritans to play from the back but was disappointed in his side’s decision making with the ball which he felt stemmed from scoring so early on from a piece of direct play.
I cannot fault the players’ willingness to hold on for the winPuritans boss Mike Ford
He said: “That’s the first time we’ve picked up three points not having fully deserved them. But there have been several games when we’ve only taken a point but deserved all three.
“We kept our shape really well in a very tough game, Didcot were excellent but so were my team, they dug in to get the result.
“Scoring so early from a long ball may have set the patterns for us, I felt we didn’t play through the middle enough.
“Our performance with the ball wasn’t great but after going down to ten men I cannot fault the players’ willingness to hold on for the win. They were fantastic.
“Didcot produced a wholehearted performance and you could see their minds were not on the FA Cup. They made it difficult for us and put lots of balls into the box but we didn’t allow them too many clear chances.”
