The Puritans made it back-to-back premier division wins with a 2-1 victory at Frome where first half goals from Ricky Johnson and Zac McEachran put the visitors in charge. Frome reduced the arrears after the restart through Clayton Green but United held on under heavy pressure for the remainder of the contest in testing conditions.

Ford said: “In my opinion, they were the best three points we’ve picked up, coming here and producing a performance like that against a side which had recently beaten Merthyr Tydfil.

“I told the players afterwards that, in some ways, they did better in the second half, especially when Frome scored so early.

“We produced a really good first half performance, scored a couple of good goals, the second one just before halftime gave us something to hold on to.

“That goal and our commitment in the second half has probably got us the three points. I can’t remember Jack Harding having too many saves to make so that shows how well we defended.

“I think Frome may have underestimated just how good we are and by the time they had, they were 2-0 down. I’m full of admiration for my players, it was a fantastic performance.”
