Banbury United boss Mike Ford praised his side’s resilience after they made it back-to-back wins in the Evo Stik Southern League.
Zac McEachran’s late winner earned the Puritans all three points in Tuesday’s 1-0 premier division victory against Slough Town. But it was another sterling display from United’s defence and keeper Jack Harding which formed the foundation for the victory.
I made a good decision tonight and we won the game, next week I might make a bad one and it will cost us the gamePuritans boss Mike Ford
Ford said: “We were trying to play too quickly early on but once we started to slow the ball down we did better. Slough were the better team in the first half hour but in the second half either team could have won it.
“The back four were excellent, I can trust them all, and Jack Harding’s handling was superb, he catches everything. Keeping clean sheets is a huge bonus.
“I thought we could win the game late on and that’s why I introduced Leam Howards with his pace, which gave us the best chance of doing just that.
Leam came on and did what he does best, he got around the back of them and rolled the ball back for my little magician [Zac McEachran] to score.
“Leam deserved to get on the pitch, he’s been superb in pre-season, he was disappointed not to get on at Basingstoke.
“I made a good decision tonight and we won the game, next week I might make a bad one and it will cost us the game.”
