Banbury United boss Mike Ford was full of praise for his players after they made it five Evo-Stik Southern League wins on the spin.
Substitute Darius Browne scored the opener and made the second goal for captain Andy Gunn as the Puritans beat Wimborne Town 2-0 in Saturday’s Division One South & West clash at Spencer Stadium.
That was a proper result and performancePuritans boss Mike Ford
Ford said: “That was a proper football result and performance, it was very tough game for us. We knew Wimborne had a good result at Yate Town last week and you could see their position in the table doesn’t reflect their ability.
“We were outstanding in the first half but we didn’t test their keeper enough. In the second half we became a little impatient and they had a good spell in the game.
“Wimborne had a decent spell but they didn’t really create any real chances apart from Carl Preston getting a shot in at the near post which Jack Harding did well to save. They didn’t really threaten us and I always felt if we got the first goal we would go on to win the game.
“We’re expected to beat teams in the bottom half of the table, given the run we’ve been on, but there is always going to be a slip-up around the corner, fortunately it wasn’t on Saturday.”
