Saints entertain Mickleover Sports in their Buildbase FA Trophy third qualifying round replay after snatching a last-gasp equaliser in Saturday’s tie.

Saints drew 1-1 at the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League outfit where Alex Gudger’s excellent finish cancelled out substitute Adam Baskerville’s stoppage-time goal.

That extended Saints’ unbeaten run to 13 games in all competitions and brings both teams back to St James Park on Tuesday evening for a replay which both sides had earned. The winners will travel to AFC Fylde in the first round.

The games are piling up for Saints but Wilkin said: “Fitting in another game into the schedule is not ideal. But when you are staring down the barrel of a gun you would take this.

“It was a fair result, we maybe did not do enough to warrant the win but we did not deserve to lose either. We had lots of possession but did not work the keeper enough.

“We were close to going out but Alex [Gudger] showed good composure and came up with a terrific finish.”
