Jacob Davidge grabbed the late winner as Bishops Cleeve beat the Puritans 1-0 in Saturday’s first qualifying round tie. Keeper Matt Wieczorek was in top form as the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South & West strugglers pulled off a shock victory at the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium.

Ford said: “If there is an air expectancy to win these games that is down to us because of what we’ve achieved. We’re very disappointed by the manner of the defeat, we tried to win the game but we didn’t take our chances and gave a goal away.

“That was a mirror image of our recent games, we’ve had 12 shots, seven on target, and their keeper has probably got man-of-the-match. He made some outstanding saves, particularly in the first half, he’s made seven stops so we have to give him credit.

“In a worse case scenario, we should be going down there for a replay on Tuesday night. But, once again, we’ve got done by a set-piece.

“When Zac [McEachran] came on we controlled the game but we gave away a free-kick and we don’t defend it. We’re not being undone in open play but at set-pieces.”
