Ex Sibford School pupil helps his American college to first national football title
Success for Conor Taylor at Missouri Valley College
Talented footballer Conor Taylor has helped his American university to win the NAIA Collegiate Men’s National Championship.
The final earlier this month was held at Blanchard Woods Park, Georgia and broadcast nationwide in the USA on ESPN3 .
The 21-year-old student-athlete from Hornton, is at Missouri Valley College on a sports scholarship, studying a double major in Exercise Science and Sports Management.
Missouri Valley College, who were the 4th ranked team nationally, beat the number 2 nationally ranked team Oklahoma Wesleyan University 2-0 to win the National title, the first in the college’s history.
Missouri Valley College had previously beaten the nationally number 1 ranked team Central Methodist University 4-2 in the semi-final on Saturday.
The Junior (3rd year student) is the team’s left back, and played the full 90 minutes in both games.
Conor was a pupil at Banbury’s Sibford School, where he was their first youngster to be selected to play representative football for the ISFA (Independent Schools Football Association).
He began playing for Bloxham, Chasewell Park, Banbury Town and Stratford Town Colts youth teams, before spending five years developing his skills in the youth set up at Birmingham City from when he was under 14s level, playing under past greats like Dennis Bailey and Kevan Broadhurst.
