Davis happy to get through despite making hard work of it

Despite seeing his side reach the Oxon Senior Cup final, Banbury United manager Paul Davis was annoyed the semi-final tie with Ardley United went to extra-time.

The Puritans emerged 4-3 victors in Tuesday’s semi-final at Thame UUnited’s ASM Stadium but should been heading back up the M40 much earlier.

Substitute Nathaniel Lewars grabbed the extra-time winner but the Evo-Stik Southern League strugglers should have been out of sight before the holders cancelled out Leam Howards’ first half opener from Ricky Johnson’s penalty. Tom Ryan looked to have won it late on for United but substitute Andy Prescott sent the game into extra-time.
