Davis delighted after seeing Puritans bounce back

Banbury United manager Paul Davis was delighted with the way his side battled back to beat Oxford City 2-1 in Tuesday’s Oxon Senior Cup quarter-final tie.

The Puritans got over the setback of going behind to a Paulo Mendes opener at Spencer Stadium to equalise though Nathaniel Lewars before Jordan Green grabbed the late winner against the Vanarama Conference North outfit.

It was the perfect response to Saturday’s 6-1 Evo-Stik Southern League thumping at Cambridge City and gives United a big boost ahead of this weekend’s premier division clash with high flying Truro City at Spencer Stadium.

After the cup tie Davis spoke to the Banbury Guardian.
