A KEEPER crisis at Spencer Stadium has been averted with Oxford United’s Max Crocombe set to deputise for Andy Kemp at Redditch United on Saturday.
Boss Ady Fuller has persuaded Mickey Lewis to loan him the young keeper to replace the unavailable Kemp for Saturday’s Evo-Stik League Southern clash at Redditch where United will be looking for their second double of the premier division campaign.
Crocombe will train with United tonight (Thursday) ahead of the trip to Redditch.
And United return to Redditch four days after beating Saturday’s opponents in Tuesday’s Red Insure Cup second round tie and on the back of an emphatic 4-0 victory over Bashley at Spencer Stadium, which took the Puritans into the top half of the table.
It was a performance Fuller demanded after the FA Trophy setback and he was delighted with the display – and the three points.
“We need that sort of performance for the next game and the next game after that because we want to go on from here and we don’t want to be down in the bottom half of the table,” said Fuller.
“Everyone was expecting us to be relegation favourites this season but that’s not going to be us. I don’t think we’re that far away from being a decent side.”
