It was a familiar story of missed chances in the premier division clash and manager Kevin Brock will hope his strikers have their shooting boots on for Saturday’s game with Flackwell Heath.

Ardley had a couple of good early opportunities with Luke Ingram beating the offside trap but firing over and Troy Bryan rattling the bar with a header. But two goals in three minutes put Milton in control.

The visitors lost possession and Danny Langford burst into the box to wrong-foot keeper Jack Goode and moments later a missed header allowed Ashley Searle to break through and cross the ball for Niall Hodgkins to slot home.

Just before the break a Jon Gardner free-kick shaved the bar and after the restart the visitors improved.

Substitute Andy Prescott was denied by a last-gasp tackle from Danny Cox-Rogers before Ardley reduced the arrears with six minutes left, Gardner was brought down in the area and he duly despatched the ensuing spot-kick. Ardley threw everything at Milton in a bid to find a late equaliser but the home side held on to claim all three points and climb above the visitors in the table.
