Double for Cherry on her debut at Harriers

Harriers were in fine form at the weekend’s final upper age group meeting at Solihull.

In her first outing for Harriers, former Bicester AC member Cherry won the under-20 shot putt with a throw of 10.47m and hammer.

A day in which all the horizontal jumpers produced personal best performances began with a convincing win in the under-17 long jump for Charlie Yates with a personal best of 5.73m.

In his new event, the triple jump, Yates produced a new best of 11.75m for second place.

Ben Brown was second in the under-17 B long jump with a new pb of 5.13m and Matt Hall jumped to pb’s of 5.28m and 10.53m in the long jump and triple jump.

Shannon Dawes continued her recent run of form in the under-17 field events.

She launched a 7m pb and new club record for second place in the 3kg hammer before throwing a season’s best of 32.36m for second place and another club record in the javelin. Dawes completed her day with a win in the B-string long jump with another personal best.

Abbey Anson threw a season’s best in the shot putt of 9.43m for third place while Rebecca Scott jumped 4.91m for second place in the long jump

Michael Dawes also maintained his recent good form when he won the under-20 6kg hammer with an impressive throw of 52.14m.

He followed up with first place in the under-20 discus, was second in the shot putt and first in the B-string javelin.

Paige Cooper threw a season’s best of 17.73m to take third in the under-17 discus and threw 8.77m for third in the B-string shot putt.

George Adams was second in the under-20 javelin with a pb of 34.58m and Luke Sherlock jumped 10.5m in the triple jump for a pb.

Charlie Shepherd won the B-string shot putt with 8m and the discus with 30.11m.
