Enable is reported to be in line for her eagerly-awaited return to the track in the September Stakes at Kempton on Saturday. Last year’s brilliant Arc winner is being prepared for a repeat bid in Paris on the first Sunday in October for which she is the 5/1 second favourite at BetVictor behind Sea Of Class who is the 9/2 market leader.

Do note trainer William Haggas has said that Sea Of Class needs fast ground to be seen at her best and he has suggested his filly would swerve the race – she is likely to stay in training as a four-year-old – if the ground was soft at Longchamp.

They go at Haydock this afternoon and Frankie Dettori takes over on Waldstern (3.10) who won the Newmarket Novice event that Roaring Lion won last season on debut. The colt holds an entry in the Group 2 Royal Lodge Stakes later in the month and it might be significant that the Italian jockey travels north for just the one booked ride.

Mon Beau Visage (3.40) hinted at a return to form when a staying on fourth at Thirsk from a 2lbs higher mark last time and Danny Tudhope takes over from a 5lbs claimer this afternoon. Tudhope has been in the plate for five of the gelding’s six career wins and has a cracking draw in stall.

Salateen should ensure the feature 7f Conditions Stakes should be run at a decent gallop and this should suit Speculative Bid (4.10) who has gone well fresh in the past for David Elsworth. Any rain would suit this seven-year-old and the hope is that Richard Kingscote can pick up Salateen inside the final furlong.

The feature race at Salisbury is the Group 3 Dick Poole Stakes and Firelight (4.20) didn’t see much room when a close fourth in the Lowther at York last month and the hope is that the selection gets more luck in running this afternoon. The filly had won her two previous starts and gets the vote for Andrew Balding whose string remain in excellent form. This stiff track should suit.

At Carlisle, there are showers forecast and any significant rain would suit Collide (6.30) who beat little at Hamilton last time but did so with the minimum of fuss and looked a decent prospect.

The unbeaten Harreq of Sir Michael Stoute is the obvious danger having scored at Pontefract on his sole start last month, but this son of New Approach might need fast ground to be seen at his best.

At Chelmsford, With Envy (5.40) improved on her debut when second at Goodwood last month and she is taken to go one better with William Buick taking over in the saddle. The selection receives 8lbs from More Than Likely who does not appear to be progressing and was beaten at 2/7 last time. This return to 6f will suit but I favour the William Haggas-trained filly.

Ghost Queen (6.10) looked ready for a step up to a mile when a staying on fourth at Chester when last seen at the end of June. The filly does not look overburdened from an opening mark of 62.

Fresh Terms will be all the rage having won by 5L at Epsom last week and the filly is 3lbs well in despite a 6lbs penalty for that success. She is not guaranteed to be quite as effective on today’s surface, however, and I am going to take a chance on Temur Khan (7.15) returning from a three-month lay-off during which he has been gelded.

The selection ran his best race over this evening’s C&D when second to a 90-rated horse and he can run off 83 this evening. Hugo Palmer’s three-year-old is bred to be smart and he might be able to cause a bit of an upset.

Volcanic Sky (8.15) is 6lbs higher than when scoring here last month under today’s jockey for the inform Saeed bin Suroor and he can follow up with the slight increase in distance considered a positive given the further he went the better he looked here last time.
