Smith leads way as Tew win opener

Harry Smith led the way as Great Tew beat Cropredy by 40 runs in Tuesday’s opening division one fixture in the Banbury Indoor Cricket League.

Tew posted 149-3 with Smith (26no), Ian Bryan (26no) and Curtly Slattter (25) top scoring. In reply, Tony Vickers (30) and Jake Walters (21no) led the way for Cropredy who came up well short.

Broughton & North Newington thumped Banbury by 40 runs.

Andy Cross (25) and Gary Crook (22) helped Newington to 76-6 with Ollie Murray taking 3-31 for Banbury who were soon skittled out with George Tate (21) the only batsman to make an impression.

Martin Anson (36no) and Chris Thompson (34no) top scored as Sandford St Martin beat Hook Norton by 93 runs.

Shipston-on-Stour beat Cropredy A by 99 runs with Marcus Ireland (47no) and Ben Cox (28no) top scoring.
