Sandford seal title but are given a scare

Sandford St Martin clinched the division one title in the Banbury Indoor Cricket League on Tuesday.

They were pushed all the way by Broughton & North Newington before winning by five runs.

Sandford posted 115-5 with Martin Anson (34) and Neil Cox (26) leading the way while Tom Hill took 2-47. Hill (27) kept Newington in the hunt before they were dismissed with Chris Thompson taking 2-42.

Hook Norton are on course for the runners-up spot after they beat Cropredy A by three wickets. Tom Rothwell took 2-26 as Cropredy were restricted to 69-4, leaving Adam Webb (21) to put Hooky on the way.

Shipston-on-Stour beat Great Tew by four wickets. Harry Dube took 2-29 as Tew were dismissed for 73 runs in which Harry Smith (42) top scored. Ben Cox (25no) saw Shipston home.

Cropredy had a walkover against a Banbury team who failed to show up.
