Sabin hits half century as Banbury make a winning start

Andrew Sabin completed a half century as Banbury II beat Cumnor by five wickets in division one of the Cherwell League.

Alex Shortt took 3-26 as Cumnor were dismissed for 198 runs with Joel Washburn Calcutt 72 leading the way for the hosts. Sabin 78 and Justin Lambden 39 saw Banbury home in the 46th over.

Great & Little Tew II beat Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts by six wickets in division two.

Lawrence Brock took 3-40 as the visitors were dismissed for 123 runs at Ledwell Road where Jack Haggett hit an unbeaten 43 runs to see Tew home in the 31st over.

Sandford St Martin lost by 42 runs against Abingdon Vale at Ledwell Road.

Tom Goffe took 5-20 as the visitors were dismissed for 192 runs with Jonathan Cummings 66 and Amith Premkumar 34 leading the way.

Goffe 50 and Tom Rothwell 30 kept Sandford in it until the 46th over as Joe Butcher took 4-41.

Horley drew with Bicester & North Oxford in division three.

Dave Eaton 73 and Dave Clark 34 made good knocks as Horley were dismissed for 304 runs. But the visitors held on to finish on 218-9 at the close.
