Lloyd Sabin was delighted to see his Banbury side make it four wins on the spin in the Home Counties Premier Cricket League.

Sabin hit an unbeaten century as Banbury maintained their 100 per cent start and it came at the home of reigning champions High Wycombe, where Banbury won Saturday’s division one fixture by 37 runs.

We’ve had a great start but we knew Saturday’s game would be a big test for us

Sabin said: “They are always big games between High Wycombe and Banbury so it was pleasing to win there, especially with them being champions. It’s been a long time since we won there but they will feel they should have won the game.

“We’ve had a great start but we knew Saturday’s game at Wycombe would be a big test for us. We knew there would be stages in the game when we would be under pressure but we stuck together, did the basics well, and when we got the breakthrough we kept the pressure on.

“We batted well but Wycombe were cruising along in their reply until Nathan Hawkes and Garth Davson went. Once we got rid of James Benning we knew we could win the game.”
