Banbury entertain rivals Oxford in Saturday’s Home Counties Premier Cricket League fixture looking to make it back-to-back wins.
Luke Ryan’s side bounced back from their only defeat so far to run out seven-wicket winners in Saturday’s division one fixture at Burnham.
Now Ryan can turn his attentions to the old rivals’ visit to White Post Road. Oxford are bottom but he is taking northing for granted.
He said: “Games against Oxford are always tight, no matter the teams’ positions, and I expect another tight match on Saturday.
“The players all know each other very well and we will not be taking them for granted, nor any team we play because this league is so competitive.
“Four wins out of five is a good start – five out of five would have been better – but we’re handily placed behind Henley. We’ve always done well in the middle part of the year and we won six out of nine games during this period last year.”
Looking back on Saturday’s success, Ryan added: “It was pleasing to get a win, it’s the first time I’ve won there as a Banbury player but, more importantly, were the points we picked up.”
