Cherwell Cricket League division four leaders Westbury lost a low scoring thriller by two wickets against Bicester & North Oxford.

Electing to bat, Westbury were going well at 98-2 until the wicket of Tom Gurney for 53 sparked a collapse as the new batsman found it hard coming in against two leg spinners on a dry turning wicket.

A late recovery of sorts saw Westbury to 171 all out as Chris De Kock 4-43 and Richard Simpson 3-37 did the damage.

In the chase, Westbury bowled with good discipline and took the game to the penultimate over. The balance of the match regularly fluctuated mainly thanks to an excellent 16 over spell from Graham Judd, picking up 4-41.

Down to the wire needing 12 from 12 and both teams pushing for the win, Bicester & North Oxford’s bravery paid off as three boundaries later they were over the line with Richard Simpson 34 and Alister Gibbins 33 top scoring.

Brackley beat East Oxford by 14 runs.

Michael Lowe 90 top scored as Brackley were dismissed for 171 runs while Richard Burton took 3-38 and Atif Ali took 3-46.

In reply, Joshua Markham took 5-62 and Douglas Smith picked up 4-51 as East Oxford were dismissed in the 43rd over with Sarfraz Hussain 32 and Adnan Hamid 31 top scoring.

Sandford St Martin II beat Wolverton Town II by eight wickets in division seven of the Cherwell Cricket League.

Michael Yeates 48 top scored as Wolverton were dismissed for 160 runs as Ben Ackland Snow took 4-34. Jim Howe 83no and Andrew Whilton 40no saw Sandford home in the 27th over.

Horley II lost by nine wickets against Challow & Childrey II in division six.

Simon Cox 43no, Dan Campbell 39 and Richard Hart 32 helped Horley to 174-6. In reply, Challow & Childrey got home in the 29th over with James Coombs 87no and Robert Jones-Walters 53 top scoring.

Andrew Lees and Dan Willett completed centuries as Westbury II beat Bledlow Ridge II by 170 runs in division eight.

Westbury declared on 329-4 with Lees 157 and Willett 112no top scoring while Jai Angell took 3-60. In reply, Ron Ridgway took 3-49 as Bledlow Ridge were dismissed in the 39th over with Angell 46 and Marcus Angell 35 top scoring.

Brackley II lost by three wickets against Witney Mills II.

Stanley Cannons took 3-33 as Brackley posted 161-9 with David Hedger 77no top scoring. In reply, Vijesh Mote 60 and Daniel Edwards 36 saw Witney Mills home in the 45th over despite Uzair Khalid taking 4-31.
