Horley moved up to third place in division three of the Cherwell Cricket League after a high scoring game against Great Brickhill II, in which they ran out 93 run victors.

Horley scored a huge 397-8 in their 50 overs, Nick Tarrant hitting 79, Dave Eaton 70 and David Taylor 54. Brickhill reached 304-5 in their 50 overs as Jilesh Pattni hit 77 and Drew Burrows 70no.

Westbury suffered their first defeat of the season in their top-of-the-table clash against Wolverton ended in a 61 run reverse.

Wolverton batted first and amassed 282-6 as Atif Akhlaq smashed 139 not out, Charlie Williams taking 4-59 for the home side. The in-form Olly Tice struck 98 in Westbury’s reply but they were bowled out for 221 as Idrees Butt took 7-35.

Wesley Bartlett fell just short of a second successive century for Oxford Downs II as they beat Banbury III by 96 runs.

Opener Bartlett hit 94 as Downs rattled up 281-6 in their 50 overs. Neil Megson was once again in dogged form for Banbury, top scoring with 30, but his side were bowled out for 185 in the 48th over, Jonny Meardon taking 3-33.

Thame Town II fell to a three-wicket defeat at Brackley in division four.

Matt Furness 52 and Richard Carr 37no helped Thame post 192-7 in their 53 overs. Josh Markham then hit 55 and Michael Lowe 47 to steer Brackley to 195-7 with five balls to spare.

Great & Little Tew III and Banbury IV drew with the scores level in a thrilling division six clash.

Banbury posted 182-6 in their 53 overs as Steve Partington struck 93. Tew went into the final over with all results possible, thanks to an unbeaten 81 from Sam Barnes. But they finished on 182-9 in an exciting fashion.
