Banbury are runners-up but Tew clinch the title

Banbury rounded off their Home Counties Premier Cricket League campaign with a three wicket victory over Slough.

Captain Luke Ryan won the toss and inserted the visitors in the division one fixture at White Post Road.

Slough found it difficult to find the runs. Waqas Hussain 25, Shaan Khan 26, Mohammed Avas 30no and Daniyal Akhtar 30no top scored as the visitors posted 167-8 while Luke Ryan took 3-25.

In reply, opener Hugo Darby 36 and Lloyd Sabin 33 gave Banbury a solid start, taking them to 84-2. Richard West and Sabin then took Banbury on to 110-3.

Banbury stuttered as they lost three wickets for just 15 runs before Ryan 18no saw his side home in the 46th over along with West who remained unbeaten on 47 which included eight fours.

The victory saw Banbury finished runners-up behind High Wycombe who beat champions Henley to clinch the title.

Meanwhile, Great & Little Tew are up as division two champions after they beat Shipton-under-Wychwood by six wickets in their final fixture.
