Continuity is the key to more success

Bulls are just six points behind fourth-placed Royal Wootton Bassett in South West One East and they entertain the Wiltshire side at Bodicote Park this Saturday.

Kerr said: “Wootton Bassett are a strong side but we’re going into the game with back-to-back wins and we’ll be looking to make that three on Saturday.

“Making it back-to-back wins is another big step forward for us. The players really wanted it on Saturday and produced a great performance.

“Ian Isham’s opening try summed up our game. It was all about ball retention and continuity to create the opportunity.

“We continued to be the stronger team in the second half and kept Reading under pressure throughout the remainder of the game.”

Jimmy Manley and Sam Stoop are available for selection but Seamus O’Dwyer is ruled out with a hand injury he picked up at Reading.

And it’s Banbury’s strength in depth, with players able to come in and out of the Bulls’ and Lions’ squads, which is proving beneficial.

Kerr added: “Sam Mills came in for his first start at open-side flanker and, although he’s not had a lot of rugby so far, he made countless tackles to stop the opposition.

“It’s essential for any successful team to have strength in depth and we’ve got that. Alex Stephenson and Alex Gandy both had impressive games as well and fitted in really well.

“But we are one senior squad of two teams, we train together and make the same calls. So it’s no real surprise to me that players fit in to the first team when they are called upon.”
