Former Banbury journalist John Kelley has written a history book of golf in Zimbabwe, which has been invited for inclusion in the US Golf Association research library.
Staying the Course is the second book on golf written by Brackley-born Mr Kelley, a former Dashwood Road and Banbury County Schools pupil who lived in Horton View.
Now 83, his long career spread through other sports, writing for Agence France-Presse, business and finance from Hong Kong when on contract for American newspaper Journal of Commerce as well as general news including war, politics and interviews for The Daily Express Group, Newsday New York, ITN and Birmingham Mail. Mr Kelley is a Zimbabwe Golf Association award winner for lifetime services to golf and life vice-president of Senior Golf in Zimbabwe. He was also well known as a master of ceremonies in Zimbabwe and after-dinner or lunch speaker, including Rotary Club events in Banbury and elsewhere.
