Wilde Without the Boy and The Ballad of Reading Gaol, The Mill, Banbury, March 15

Performed by Olivier Award nominee Gerard Logan, Wilde Without the Boy is a dramatic interpretation of De Profundis, the letter Oscar Wilde wrote to his lover, Lord Alfred Douglas, from his cell in Reading gaol. Two years previously, Wilde had been imprisoned for acts of gross indecency with other males. Wilde Without the Boy is a glimpse into the humbled, bruised, loving soul of one of the literature’s greatest figures.

Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs 2: The Magic Cutlass, The Theatre, Chipping Norton, March 17

When Flinn, Pearl and Tom are in the middle of their school play, their old nemesis, Mr T the T-Rex, appears and kidnaps the children. They’re then whisked away for a real life pirate adventure. An evening in the company of this much-loved and highly respected couple, twice winners of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Award for Best Duo, promises to be intimate, inclusive, warm and inspiring.

A Taste of Ireland, Croughton Village Hall, March 17 and Banbury Folk Club, Banbury Cross Inn, Banbury, March 21

The Kevin O’Regan Band will be bringing a taste of Ireland to the area in two gigs around St Patrick’s Day. Their infectious blend of songs with great choruses, several of the old favourites included, and Irish dancers promises to engage audiences. On St Patrick’s Day itself, the band will be performing at Croughton Village Hall. As well as their own Irish dancer, Nicola Anderson, there will be two guest, award-winning dancers, Shannon Wigram and Ben Lally. The band will bring their magic to Banbury Folk Club later in the week, with Irish stew and soda bread at the interval.
