Essential work to repair a collapsed pipe has begun on Parsons Street in Banbury to prevent customers suffering the misery of sewer flooding.
It is expected to be closed until December 6 to allow for repairs to be completed but will remain open to pedestrians and a marshal will redirect shop deliveries during working hours.
Ian Smith of Thames Water said: “We know it’s frustrating when roads are disrupted and we’re sorry for any inconvenience this work may cause, but it is a ‘must-do’ job - sewer flooding is a truly miserable experience.
“To prevent any problems with sewage leaking into properties during the work, we may need to use a tanker while the new pipe is connected. We’ll work hard to get the work completed, and the road back to normal, as quickly as possible.”
Work will be carried out from Monday to Sunday, between 8am and 8pm.
