Woman assaulted in Banbury churchyard

A 30-year-old woman was punched twice in the face in the churchyard of St Mary’s Church on Horsefair in Banbury.

It happened betwee 3.30pm and 3.45pm on Sunday, September 20 where the victim was hit by a man causing injuries to her mouth and nose.

She did not require hospital treatment and a 30-year-old man has been arrested and bailed until tomorrow (Thursday)

Investigating Officer, PC Dominic Watson based at Banbury Police Station, said: “This was an assault in broad daylight, in a public church yard in the centre of Banbury.

“I would like to speak to anyone who was walking through or past St Mary’s Church yard and may have seen this incident. I would ask anyone who has information to contact Thames Valley Police on 101.”
