A newly-opened Italian delicatessen has donated a ten kilo panettone cake to the charity Home Start.

Giuseppe Grassi of G&G Fine Italian Foods Ltd has worked within the Italian fine foods industry for some time and began trading in Chipping Norton a month ago.

Home Start provides services in Banbury, Chipping Norton and the surrounding villages. It operates with a diverse team of trained volunteers and supports young families through a wide range of difficulties.

The main criteria is that at least one child should be under the age of five.

The referral service has been very successful but depends mostly on self-funding and donations. The panettone will be raffled to raise much-needed funds so that no needy family has to wait for help and support.

G&C supplies both public and trade customers with products such as wine, cheese, pasta, hams, olives and coffee selections.

Mr Grassi said: “I’m keen to showcase the best of Italian produce and am delighted to be involved in assisting Home Start with their fundraising.”

To make a donation or to enter the draw to win the cake, contact Home Start, based at Britannia Road Children’s Centre, Banbury, on 01295 266358. For more about volunteering, visit www.home-startbanbury.org.uk
