A wallet which was given to a husband by his wife as an anniversary present was stolen from a car in the early hours of this morning, Tuesday.

A thief took seconds to break into the blue Seat Ibiza of Yasser Malik, of Arbury Close, in Banbury, taking his wallet before using Mr Malik’s debit card to spend £100 on Mecca Grosvenor online.

Speaking to the Banbury Guardian, Mr Malik, who received the wallet from his wife, Frieda, as a first wedding anniversary present, said when he woke up at 7am this morning, he discovered his driver’s side car door was slightly open.

On further inspection, he discovered his new dark brown Hugo Boss wallet was missing. The wallet contained a credit card and a debit card as well as Mr Malik’s driving licence and other cards.

Mr Malik, 29, then went upstairs and watched footage from his security camera. The theft happened just after 2.30am.

Mr Malik said: “The wallet is more valuable to me than the other things he has taken.”

He added: “It is just annoying that someone can go up a driveway and break into a car.

“There were five cars on the driveway and mine was the least valuable. It is also worrying that someone has my personal details that they can do anything with.

“My bank can’t do anything now the transaction has gone through. I have to report it to fraud.”

Mr Malik described the offender from the camera footage as a man wearing dark shoes, grey jogging bottoms, a dark coloured coat with a large collar and with the hood over his head. He was also carrying a backpack and Mr Malik thought he was aged between 18 and 25.

Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information, should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
