Warriner School achieve hat trick of record GCSE results

Students and Staff are celebrating again as The Warriner School improved its headline figures for GCSEs achieving record results for the third year running.

Overall 69 per cent of students achieved five A* to C grades including English and maths. The A*-C pass rate in English which was 90 per cent and maths was 72 per cent.

This continuing improvement cements the school’s position in the top 100 most improved schools in the country.

An impressive 22 students achieved eight or more A’s and A*’s with Daniel O’Toole achieving ten A* grades.

Edward Palmer was awarded nine A* grades and an A and both Josh Pocock and Emily Thompson achieved eight A* and two A grades.

Josh said: “Thank you for all the great teaching over the last five years.”

Lucy Dunlop who earned five A* grades and four As, said: “Although I am absolutely chuffed with my results today, I think the biggest thing I am taking away is a sense of pride and love for the whole school.”

Principal Dr Annabel Kay said: “I am so impressed with the performance of this group of students.

“We have pulled out all the stops this year, and sometimes you wonder if it’s going to make a difference, but I have to thank my staff for going the extra mile yet again.

“We’ve had fantastic support from our parent body, and our students have been a real credit to them.

She added: “Over a hundred of our students have the grades they need to join our sixth form and do their first choice of subjects,”
