The grant will enable Sibford Ferris, Sibford Gower and Burdrop to carry out feasibility studies prior to applying for planning permission.

The project is being initiated by the Sibfords Community Benefit Group – a partnership between Sibford’s schools, Holy Trinity Church, the Friends Meeting House, the Village Hall and Sibford Ferris Parish Council. They can now start to investigate the installation of photovoltaic solar panels, solar thermal and ground source heat pumps.

Peter Robinson, chairman of the Sibfords Community Benefit Group, said: “This is a very exciting project which ultimately could see the majority of properties in the villages using ‘free’, clean, renewable electricity and generating income to be used for the benefit of the whole community.”
