Residents in Sulgrave have transformed their village into an advent calendar in the build-up to Christmas.
After being inspired by a similar idea in Abington Pigotts in Cambridgeshire, Sulgrave residents Ingram Lloyd and Shrimp Christy asked people to decorate one of their windows in a scene similar to an advent calendar. Each window would then be unveiled to the public every night up until Christmas Eve. Villagers also took the chance to sing carols around the village last Friday.
Mrs Lloyd said: “Sulgrave is a really good collective village and there was no problem in getting everyone involved despite it being quite late organising it.
“We have always had a group well in the double figures each evening and the children have loved doing it. We have got a really nice ratio of people here and all of them have being really helpful which is lovely.”
The village’s Star Inn pub has also got involved with the idea as it unveiled a window on December 5.
The nativity scene at St James will be unveiled on Christmas Eve and Mrs Lloyd added the village will be looking to do a similar event next year.
