Vets plan Â£400k clinic extension

The new extension will allow West Bar Veterinary Hospital to provide a separate cat entrance and waiting room completely separate from the dog waiting room area. There will also be an area in the waiting room for rabbits and birds.

The building work will start in March and will be comple by the summer.

Managing director, Clive Madeiros, said: “This extension is good news for the pet animals of Banbury.

“We want to provide a better environment for cats and rabbits and keep them away from barking dogs to minimise the stress of being in a vet practice. The new build has taken two years from its inception to this start point and has been designed to accommodate for the different types of pet animals we treat, taking into account their different welfare and psychological needs.”

The new extension will have separate cat friendly consulting rooms and a cat hospitalisation ward. There will be a separate cat procedure/pre-operation room in addition to a separate cat operating theatres.

The canine hospital has been redesigned to give more space for hospitalised dogs. There will also be two new state of the art veterinary operating theatres.

Once completed the hospital wants to earn the Gold Standard Status Award by the International Cat Care’s Cat Friendly Clinic scheme.
