UPDATED: Man arrested on suspicion of Spiceball Park rape

A 26-year-old man has today (Wednesday) been arrested on suspicion of the rape of a woman in Banbury’s Spiceball Park.

A grassy area near the Oxford Canal remains marked off with police tape as officers maintain a scenewatch following the incident alleged to have taken place in the park between 4.40pm and 5pm yesterday (Tuesday).

The 26-year-old was arrested earlier today and is currently in police custody.

Det Con Charlotte Eden, from Banbury Force CID, said: “Detectives are currently dealing with the incident and uniformed officers are present in the park at the moment.

“If anyone has any concerns please approach an officer or speak to your local neighbourhood team by calling the 24-hour Thames Valley Police enquiry centre on 101.

“If anyone saw anything suspicious in Spiceball Park or has any information which may assist the investigation please call police on 101.”
